Mission Statement
Providing a holistic foundation of traditional martial arts, self defense and self improvement programs that provide "LIFE SKILLS", in order to build better people, families and
communities.
Student Creed
I am a whole, perfect, positive and powerful human being. Each day and in every way I commit to improving myself through Karatedo.
The quality of my life is based on the quality of my thoughts, actions and
behaviors.
I rely on my awareness and intuition as my greatest source of self defense.
I will develop self discipline and practice courtesy, respect, compassion and gratitude in all areas of my life so that I can realize my full potential in life.
I never give up. I have unlimited
perseverance, strength and control.

LIFE SKILLS THROUGH KARATE:

The Central Alberta Martial Arts
(C.A.M.A) & Wellness Centre is a Family focused and
Family operated school / centre operating in Sylvan
Lake
for the past 12 years and in Rimbey for the past 5
years. As recipient of Sylvan
Lake's "Community
Innovation and Involvement Award", C.A.M.A
demonstrates a strong commitment to providing top
quality martial arts and personal development programs
and services that aim to bring out the best in each and
every individual it comes in contact with.
As a husband and wife team,
2nd Degree Black Belt Instructors Sensei Dennis and Sensei Christine, have
collaborated their martial arts, wellness, and life
coaching knowledge and experiences to provide their
students with the basis of strong yet practical self
defense and personal protection while encouraging the
tenets of compassion, strength, and courtesy and
respect. A large part of this is providing students with
self-defense tactics and training that develop student's
mental and spiritual facets while heightening their
awareness to avoid dangerous situations before they even
happen. In other words, students receive a type of
"holistic cross training" that focuses on the mind, body
and spirit and as a result, is transferable in all areas
of their lives. With the technical and philosophical
support from Shihan Brian Cyr, 6th Degree Rank in Goju
Ryu Karate, and its affiliated organization, Kaizendo,
C.A.M.A offers its students and the community as a
whole, a life-changing experience through the "way of
the martial arts".

In addition, students learn positive social values including courtesy & respect, honesty, humility, and dignity through traditional
karate, self defense, and community service. Students are strongly encouraged to strive for goals that will better themselves and the community as a whole. In addition to teaching traditional martial arts, local and international volunteer work, bully awareness education, and parent and student collaboration, are all but a few components of the school’s holistic approach to personal and community growth and change.
A student’s growth in the martial arts is not only
gauged by their technique, skill and attendance in
class; more importantly, their growth is
primarily determined by their initiative and
participation in perfecting their character and
assisting in the growth and well-being of the community;
for this is the ultimate aim of traditional martial
arts.
Some previous and on-going projects students have participated in, include:
• for needy children and their families (via World Vision) through December's Annual “Pennies for Push Ups” sponsorship drive.
• to help in their fight against cataracts.
• to local libraries highlighting the importance of physical, emotional, and mental health and ways to achieve it, based on their own experiences.
• such as community clean ups and other environmental efforts.
• to support their financial, health and educational needs.
• community and world.
