Goju Ryu Karatedo

The core of our Martial Arts Programs embody traditional Goju Ryu Karate and the traditional teachings and knowledge of our Parent Affiliation Kaizen-Do. Our Goju Ryu Karate classes are offered to children, youth and adults between the ages of 4 to 104! 

Each class incorporates Traditional Goju Ryu Karatedo, Self Defense, Kata (forms), as well as Health & Fitness and Personal Development Themes. Students are also taught the tenets of Courtesy and Respect and to strive for Goals that will better themselves, others and the community as a whole.

Lit'l Samurais & Lit'l Masters ©

The Lit'l Samurais (Beginners) and Lit'l Masters (Red Belt) Programs are perfect for ages 4 to 5. The Programs integrate motor skills drills, martial arts moves, and important life skills into a curriculum that get the kids excited, sweating and eager to learn.  

Balance, Teamwork, Self Control, Coordination, Discipline & Focus, Memory, and Fitness, are all but a few major skills that make up the foundation of the Programs.

Bond with your child while getting great exercise and practicing self defense and other confidence-building activites. This interactive Program is perfect for children (ages 4 - 5) and their Mom or Dad to learn Traditional Karate, Self Defense, and many more Exciting Concepts!

Tai Chi & Chi Kung

This introductory Program is beneficial to your health; it is also a subtle, sophisticated and scientific method of self defense. Tai Chi & Chi Kung offer a balanced drill for the body's muscles and joints through fluid movemetns in conjunction with deep regulated breathing and the contraction and expansion of the diaphragm.  

Health Benefits include: lower blood pressure, increased flexibility, improved concentraion, improved circulation,  and a greater sense of awareness and well being, to name but a few.

Is an educational activity for kids ages 6+, to improve balance, concentration, flexibility, focus, attention and learning. Children learn Tai Chi by relating to animal forms and movements.  Research show that children who practice Tai Chi are calmer, have more confidence and self-awareness as well  as a more positive outlook on life.

Kobudo & Kali

Kobudo is a fighting system of Okinawa, using weapons, some of which were developed from the every day life of farmers, while others were introduced to the Ryu Kyu Islands of Okinawa through trading with the Chinese and Indian cultures.

Kali is indigenous to the Philippine Islands. It is recognized as a stick fighting system. Many people are unaware of this form of martial art, however the turth of the matter is that Kali has an ancient and rich history with regards to the blade and stick fighting.

Weaponry training is extremely benefical for children ages 10+ and adults. Students learn coordination and balance and improve overall strength and agility. Most importantly, students gain a great awareness of their environments as they learn that their weapons are merely an extension of themselves. In addition, they are taught the tenents of Courtesy and Respect, which is the foundation to all Martial Arts Training.

NEW!  NINPO (NINJUTSU ~ Way of the Ninja)

A high impact martial art that embodies the way of the Ninja. Training promotes balance, agility, coordination, flexibility and calmness of mind. Self Defense, Ground Safety and Katas are all learned in this very exciting martial arts class. Ages 6+.  

NEW!  IAIDO (Way of the Samurai Sword)

One of the oldest forms of martial arts, Iaido is the teaching of the samurai sword. This beautiful Japanese art embodies patience, discipline, intuition and focus. Training in this art helps the student develop spirit, awareness and focus in his or her everyday life. (Ages 10+, or if under 10 years of age, Orange Belt +).

Karate Birthday Parties & Karate Date Nights

Book an exciting Karate Birthday Party or participate in our monthly Karate Date Nights! Both events are full of fun Karate Drills and Games, Pizza (and Karate Ice Cream Cake for Birthday Parties) and lots of surprises! It's also a great time for parents to simply "sit back" or enjoy their own date night while the kids have their's.

The Karate Birthday Parties and Date Nights are filled with specially designed drills and games making it possible for all kids to have fun while they learn basic Karate skills. No prior Martial Arts Experience is required to participate...so everyone 4 and up (non-students welcome!) will be able to join in on all the fun!

Alberta Bushido Open

The Alberta Bushido Open is an Open Martial Arts Tournament hosted by the Central Alberta Martial Arts & Wellness Centre. This yearly event attracts numerous competitors and spectators from all over the province and beyond to participate in a fun, safe and exciting Tournament. It is a wonderful opportunity for all martial artists to exchange knowledge and experience and to build lasting friendships. 

The Tournament is an important event for the Not-For-Profit School since it provides the financial support needed to continue teaching the basic tools for Self Defense and Personal Empowerment. The Tournament's success is based on yearly support from sponsorships from local and global businesses and community members. The annual Tournament is scheduled for Sat.
